The Local Organizing Committee (LOC), the Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS) and the Canadian National Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH-CNC) welcome you to GeoMontréal 2024, the 77th Canadian Geotechnical Conference and 16th Joint CGS/IAH-CNC Groundwater Conference.
The theme for GeoMontréal 2024 is Resilient geosciences for future generations. Indeed, geosciences play an essential role in the understanding of and preservation of our planet. In these times of environmental change and climate disruption, it is imperative to view the Earth sciences from a perspective of resilience, with a focus on ensuring the well-being of future generations. The commitment of geotechnical engineers and hydrogeologists to promote sustainable engineering practices inevitably involves optimal management of natural resources, including the exploitation of renewable energies and greater protection of water. Our efforts, both in practice and in research, are indispensable to the future of humanity and the Earth.
GeoMontréal 2024 will feature many opportunities for networking and learning with colleagues and distinguished speakers. In addition to the technical program and plenary sessions, GeoMontréal 2024 will feature a range of eminent keynote speakers, high-level intensive courses, technical tours, and social activities. We are honored to welcome Suzanne Lacasse for the RM Hardy Keynote Address. Dr. Lacasse is the recipient of many awards and honors, including the highly prestigious Officer of the Order of Canada. The conference will open on Sunday evening with an Icebreaker and Exhibitor Reception. The CGS Awards Banquet and the Local Colour Night will follow on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
GeoMontréal 2024 will no doubt be a great conference for sharing knowledge on a wide range of geotechnical and hydrogeological topics, as well as experiencing and discovering the unique character of the City of Montreal, a city distinguished by its multicultural life, its gastronomy and its museums. We hope you will find GeoMontréal 2024 to be educational, enjoyable and memorable. The LOC and the Western Quebec Section of CGS (CGS-SOQ) are looking forward to seeing you at the conference.
